Is this world good or evil?

Is this world good or evil? A strange question, maybe.

When we look around, we can see so much beauty and at the same time so much destruction.

Good and evil, beauty and ugliness, darkness and light. It is not one or the other; it is both. The question, therefore, is not 'Is this world good or evil?' but rather 'Which side am I on?'

Evil world system

The Bible says that the current world (system) is controlled by evil: We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one (1 John 5:19). It has been like that for ages. It is one of the reasons Jesus prayed to God the Father for His followers: I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one (John 17:15)

God has our back. I find that a comforting thought. Yes, we are in a battle, whether we acknowledge it or not, but we are never left alone.

Winning the battle

Which side am I on? The answer to that question is all that matters. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God (1 John 5:4-5)

As believers, we are called to win this battle against an evil world. We cannot and should not be carried away by everything that is happening. Prayer is our weapon and the Bible our instruction manual. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God (Titus 2:12).

May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.
