I believe it was Albert Einstein who said that.
To be of value for God's Kingdom, I would like to add, for whatever this world has to offer will fade away.
Of course, most people pursue a good life, happiness, success, an education, or a degree.
But, as most of us will learn sooner or later, once we have reached our goal, there surely will be another one waiting. It never ends.
Setting goals
What is it we truly pursue? Fame or fortune? Recognition or reward? Satisfaction or success?
Although I am all for setting goals (because if we don't, we never accomplish anything), I do realize that doing something valuable is more important than doing something to be successful.
Good advice
The Apostle Paul warned young Timothy about the temptation of riches and the trap of many foolish and harmful desires, which will all lead to many sorrows. He gave the young man good advice. Advice I will take to heart: But you, Timothy, are a man of God [But you, Marja, are a woman of God]; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11).
Valuable virtues
Quite a list, I must say. As believers, we ought to pursue valuable virtues such as righteousness, a godly life, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Not an easy task, for sure. But rewarding, very rewarding!
