Every Christian has a ministry, a service for which they are called.
Yes, I truly believe so. The essence of Christianity is that we share what we have received. No one keeps the blessing for himself if all is well.
The essence of Christianity is rooted in giving, in sharing. God GAVE His very own Son to save the world. He GAVE us everything we need to live our lives.
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence (2 Peter 1:3).
Army of love
I can’t help but notice that the time we are living in calls for ALL Christians to pick up their God-given ministry, no matter how small or large that may be. An army of love is not passive, cannot be passive. 2 Timothy 4:2 says: Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
‘Whether the time is favorable or not.’ That sentence stuck with me.
The goodness of God
The time is never favorable, if you ask me. With so much going on in the world, we have plenty of excuses to postpone what God called us to do: preach the Word of God. Let's keep it simple. He has gifted all of us with a way to preach, whether that is through writing, singing, painting, crocheting, speaking, making music, giving a helping hand, and so much more. There are many, many ways to share the goodness of God.
Worries of this world

But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.
(2 Timothy 4:5)

I wholeheartedly agree, Marja, that each one of us has been given unique talents by God that He wants us to share with others to His honor and glory. May we each to our part. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteColossians 4:17: "And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, to the end that thou fulfil it" comes to mind. And, Ecclesiastes 9:10: "Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do with thy might". Is each one's ministry largely what their hand finds to do; if you see a gap, it's your job to fill it.
ReplyDeleteHi Marja, Its so funny how God works. As you know I have been really ditsy about blogging the last few years but I just keep feeling that pull to come back. And so I see this post of yours. Almost as if by coincidence. I do believe the Lord would have me encourage others and so back to blogging I go. If God's hand is in it, it will grow and someone will be encouraged. Thank you for the encouragement and for always being faithful to the call on your life. I can see the impact wherever I see you on the "net". God bless and may Christmas be very blessed in your home!
