Why I believe the Bible over global narrative

"NYT' amends Gaza starvation story..."

Too late (again), the damage is done. What is journalism if you have to make amendments all the time?

Wouldn't it be better to be quick to listen and slow to speak?

Publishing propaganda as facts is, I am sad to say, a common practice nowadays. If that’s not bad enough as it is, the majority of people believe the narrative they read in newspapers and see on TV.

Global narrative

I asked AI the other day to define ‘global narrative’ and this is what came up on my screen:

"A global narrative refers to overarching stories, myths, and legends that circulate on a global scale, influencing how people perceive major themes like progress, development, and sustainability. These narratives shape our understanding of the world, our place within it, and impact cultural heritage and societal development. They are powerful tools that can influence policies, individual choices, and collective visions of the future."

Let that sink in, please. Global narrative: myths and legends.

The Word of God

This is exactly why I prefer to get my news from the Bible. Simply because the Bible has stood the test of time, culture, and relevance. And, most of all, the Bible never changes. The Word of God is true forever.

The global narrative (about Israel, the climate, the economy, the culture… you name it) is designed to influence how people perceive these major themes. Think about that.

Now, critics of the Bible may say the very same thing about God’s Word. Religious propaganda, that is what it is. Really?

Existential questions

Let me ask the critics a few questions: How has the modern-day global narrative shaped your understanding of this world? How has it explained the purpose of your place within it? How has the modern-day global narrative answered your existential questions? And what is it doing to your peace of mind, your hope for the future, and your love for people?

The Bible has predicted the troublesome times we live in right now, but it also gives the answers on how we should live from day to day. God's Word encourages, inspires, motivates, and transforms. Something that definitely cannot be said about the global narrative.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

  2. I, also, am learning to trust lasting truth. God has taught me so much in recent years. Our Bible study at church on Hebrews (chapter 4) for next week teaches me on Sabbath rest. I can hardly wait to finish my personal studies on this and attend the group study to hear what the group has learned from this chapter.
    Be blessed!
