Give us meat!

Turkey, vegetables, or mashed potatoes? What's your favorite dish?

With Thanksgiving around the corner, memories of wonderful dinners are flooding my mind. We have spent many Thanksgivings with dear friends in the USA and always enjoyed the hustle and bustle around this holiday. And yes, I love a good piece of turkey!

Why complain?

There was a time when the ancient Israelites were wandering through the desert, and they began to complain about their hardships. God heard it, and Moses heard it. 'Give us some meat', they cried out (Numbers 11:4, 13).

Give us some meat? Are you kidding me? They had plenty of cattle, for crying out loud. Why complain to God about something He had already provided? As far as I know, it doesn't say anywhere that they were not allowed to eat their own animals (if I am mistaken, tell me).

Lack of gratitude

Yes, some of their animals were to be used for sacrifices, some maybe for trading purposes. But, if you're really that desperate for some meat, kill an animal!

It is my guess that they were not being thankful. Seriously, I believe their lack of gratitude made them blind to all that God had given them on their journey. Complaining blinds us to everything we have been given.

Thanksgiving

Gratitude is the key to being content, to being blessed. So, I hope you can celebrate Thanksgiving next week with a grateful heart.

In Jerusalem, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will spread a wonderful feast for all the people of the world. It will be a delicious banquet with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat.

  1. They maybe regarded the cattle as wealth rather than food.
