Are you in need of restoration?

Have you ever seen restored oldtimer cars? They are definitely a sight to see. The glory of days gone by is being relived after old and beaten vehicles receive tender loving care and look like new again.

Car restoration is a hobby that costs a lot of time and money.

It has always intrigued me that God makes all things new, yet He is also a God of restoration. How can we be new and, at the same time, in need of restoration? Yeah, somewhat like the oldtimer car.

The Bible makes it clear: If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

New life

When a person turns away from the old way of living and believes in Jesus Christ, something happens. That person receives a new life. That person is reborn.

Now, this new life in Christ is, first and foremost, a spiritual life. It doesn't automatically mean that everything that went wrong in the old life has disappeared. We still have to deal with the consequences of the choices we made in the past. That is exactly why God starts the work of restoration in us.

A work of restoration

It takes time and effort to repair broken pieces of a life. Therefore, God is always at work in us, and the more we cooperate, the faster the restoration process goes. I am talking about the restoration of shattered marriages, family relationships, broken hearts, lost positions, financial mistakes, and physical trouble, just to mention a few.

Jesus is the answer

Are you in a process of restoration? Be patient. Do you need restoration of something that has been broken? Ask God for it, and be specific. Are you in need of a new life? Give the old one in surrender to Jesus. For surely, He can make all things new.

Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.  Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah. For he must remain in heaven until the time for the final restoration of all things, as God promised long ago through his holy prophets.

[Act 3:19-21]
